As a brief update to my recent post about learning to love orange, I direct you to a post on the Ebay discussion forums. It's a wonderful list of synonyms for basic colors like orange, brown and beige. I think you'll enjoy it!

As as update to my mood swings lately, I've come to the conclusion I'm either a) losing my mind; b) going through "the change"; or c) normal.
There's a new book I've been reading about, "Happiness; The Science Behind Your Smile" by David Nettle. Nettle claims that humans have a sort of rheostat setting for happiness. We are not programmed to BE happy, but we are programed to pursue the things we think will make us happy.
And once we attain those things, we aren't usually more happy than our basic setting allows for. The happiness ante just gets "upped". And that this is normal, because the pursuit of happiness is what gets us out of bed in the morning.
I'm finding this actually works right now--I think of one fun thing I get to do each day, and that indeed is enough to get me out of bed.
And I don't feel so ungrateful or immature for not being happy for what I already have. It's genetic! It's our nature!
I'm sure my husband will appreciate the distinction when he balances the household checkbook this week...
