Snippet of conversation overheard at a local diner this morning, between two guys who are probably WWII vets:
"One thing I learned in the Army....I HATE pleats!!"
Now, you could open a novel with that sentence!
I was at the diner because I'd run into an acquaintance a few nights ago. She's a really cool lady, energetic, grounded, hugely talented. A big heart. We've talked about "getting together" for ages and this week, I took her up on it. We made plans to meet for breakfast. She is one of the positive, upbeat, creative people that have been literally falling into my path this week since I realized I don't HAVE to make room for negative, angry, jealous people.
We gabbed about where we are right now in life and what we perceive to be our "next steps". And it turns out she knew someone who could help me with mine, and I could help her with hers. I said, "I can't believe I ran into you!" and she said, "And I can't believe I ran into YOU!" We sat back in our seats and looked at each other and burst out laughing.
When I came out of the diner, the sun was shining--a reminder that yes, spring does eventually come, even in New England. And when I got into my car, the radio was playing "It's a Beautiful Day".
Perfect.
