I've been getting a lot of email questions about screencasting recently, and I've found myself answering many of them with URLs that retrieve various collections of articles and blog postings I've written over the last year. I should probably write up a FAQ on the topic. Meanwhile, I thought it would be helpful to reorganize what I've already written. To that end, I've reviewed and refined the tags I've been using to collect screencasting-related items.
I'll use screencast for an item that is the "home page" for a screencast -- that is, the blog entry that introduces and describes it. And I'll use the tag Screencasting for items that are about tools, techniques, and the medium.
A related tag is primetimehypermedia, which identifies articles in my Primetime Hypermedia series on the O'Reilly Network. There are seven articles in that series so far, two of which relate to screencasting.
You can use del.icio.us to find these sets of articles. Alternatively, since my blog is a queryable database, you can use my own service to find the same things. So:
|del.icio.us query||direct query|
|items about screencasting||http://del.icio.us/judell/Screencasting||query|
|O'Reilly Network columns about screencasting||http://del.icio.us/judell/primetimehypermedia+Screencasting||query|
Since I've been scratching my itch for structured search again lately, I'll also point out that you can use my service to find things more precisely than by combining del.icio.us tags. For example:
items about screencasting that mention Camtasia
screencasts related to PHP
items related to the Wikipedia screencast
