Screencasts around the Net

Screencasting is a medium that can deliver order-of-magnitude improvements over conventional documentation and training. If people aren't "getting it," maybe it's time to stop blaming them and start telling stories they can't forget or misunderstand. [Full story at InfoWorld.com]

The meme appears to be spreading. Here are some examples I've seen in the last few weeks:

• Mark Pilgrim's excellent Greasemonkey tutorial includes a list of a dozen procedures, eight of which are augmented with screencasts.
• Peter Rodgers has made a series of short screencasts illustrating the basic concepts of the 1060 NetKernel.
• Michael Tiller made an introductory screencast about the Modelica language and Dymola development environment. In a follow-up he simulates the thermodynamics of a coffee cup.
• Ted Conway has a 30-second short that shows SQL-oriented folk how to access data in the SAS environment.
• Michael Smick is working on a series of demonstrations of open source apps including Celtx and Inkscape.
• Tony Byrne's first screencast looks at a bunch of content management systems through an Ajax lens, highlighting their use of dynamic features in the browser.

It's very cool to see this stuff happening!
