Here's another rich resource for creative people:
Alyson B. Stanfield produces a great e-newsletter for artists. You can view the latest version here: http://www.artbizcoach.com/dothis/
Check out the newsletter for December 26, 2006, featuring an article entitled "Start the Year with a Clean Slate". This article was written by Rachelle Disbennett-Lee, and reprinted by Alyson on her ArtBizCoach.com website. You can see Rachelle's site here: http://www.365daysofcoaching.com/
Rachelle writes about the beauty and power of starting out with "a clean slate", literally and figuratively. What's hanging out in your studio that can be moved on? What's weighing heavily on your mind that you can throw out? What can you let go of, so you can move forward again?
I love the idea of using these "in between" holidays to clear the decks for the new year.
It inspired me to finish an article that's been pushed repeatedly to the back burner.
It made me realize that I need to get that new quilting frame and new industrial sewing machine gizmo set up, pronto!
It's giving me permission to let go of the threads that unraveled and the paths that petered out through 2006, and focus on my goals for 2007.
I think it's okay to move on, sometimes--to let go of things that aren't working and directions that aren't getting me where I want to go.
As for those not-so-hot situations I've been pondering lately, I think it's time for me to go.
